Chest pain: "angina" is the medical term for pain that comes from a lack of blood flow to the heart. A "heart attack" is heart damage that results from said lack of blood flow. Frequently, the two go hand in hand, meaning angina can precede a heart attack. Many times, angina goes away with rest, and typically a heart attack pain does not go away. Either way, if you get chest pain, see a doctor right away.

Classically: Angina pectoris =substernal pressure, pain with radiation to the neck or left or right arm and shoulder. Some will have abdominal pain-and be confused with gallbladder or stomach symptoms. Ladies seem to have less classic// or tolerate pain better than men. Relief with Nitroglycerin is very suggestive. A feeling of impending doom, pallor, sweating suggest a bad day!
