A doctor has provided 1 answer

HPV is an infection.: Genital hpv is a sexually transmitted viral infection. It is spread by close physical contact (vaginal sex, anal sex, oral sex, etc...). If a person becomes infected, they will often times mount an immune response and clear the infection. There are more than 100 strains of the virus. Some are more virulent than others. Some people may develop warts, dysplasia (pre cancer) and cancer from hpv.
