Best to be: Evaluated by a dentist for a comprehensive exam and x-ray series to rule out any dental problems, and then go from there. Causes can be malocclusion, inadequate dentition, worn down dentition to name a few. There can also be TMJ issues. Would recommend an eval first. Good luck and hope this helps.
