Results can change.: The group b strep is very sensitive to antibiotics and is very common to be carried in the gastrointestial and genital tract. When a screening culture is positive late in pregnancy it is treated during labor.

You can change GBS.: If you had group b streptococci in your urine (even if asymptomatic), or a previously infected newborn, it stays positive throughout pregnancy and must be treated during labor to prevent neonatal infection. If your anogenital culture is + within a month of delivery it also has to be treated, however previous positive results can change to negative, which is why the culture is performed ~35 weeks.

Considered positive : If you had a positive gbs culture during the current pregnancy you will always be treated as a gbs positive patient regardless of a future culture.
