Treatment to prevent outbreaks is mostly for genital HSV2 infection but probably works for oral herpes (usually HSV1). Is it certain your outbreaks are recurrent herpes? Oral herpes usually recurs once a year or less. If confirmed, ask your doctor about daily oral valacyclovir or acyclovir. Also avoid known triggers; outbreaks can be triggered by sun exposure, for example. Good luck.
