The vaccine is 100% effective against 9 HPV types, but if you were infected with any of those types before you were vaccinated, you could still carry them and transmit to partners. The vaccine may have some effect in reducing the chance of reactivation and transmission of previously acquired HPV strains, but not a strong effect.
