A member asked:

If someone is hesitant to an upper gi endoscopy, are there other diagnostic options?

Depends on why it is being done. Sometimes you have to actually look at something and biopsy it to get a diagnosis. For that, it needs to be done. For an endoscopy, you can be sedated with something to calm you down before the procedure to take away your anxiety. You will not be put out completely to sleep but sedated enough so that it will not bother you and likely you will not remember it.
