A member asked:

Some women take bcp continuously to avoid a withdrawal bleed. there is more information on how with monophasic than triphasic pills. i dont want to switch my pill. how do you skip bleeds for a few months with triphasic (static estrogen dose)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You may try by simply continuing the next pack with the active pills when you complete the active pills in the prior pack. Because the triphasic changes the progestin dose you will be more likely to have breakthrough bleeding at unpredictable times, so you may not "skip". This is why a monophasic is preferable. Triphasics offer no particular advantages and you needn't be afraid of switching.
