A member asked:

I checked my basal body temperature, its at 97.9 degrees. i dont know if thats my regular basal body temperature but does this number indicate i ovulated? im on birth control, third pack?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Birth control prevents ovulation from happening, so the 97.9 deg probably represents your normal. The best way to know your BBT is to check it daily at the same time for 14 days, then calculate the average. Better than going off a single measurement. Though checking BBT is valid, you can also use ovulation detection kits when actively trying to get pregnant. They're both inexpensive and effective
