: It is best to prevent bites by using insect repellant on your skin prior to going out, or wearing clothes that covers extremeties to prevent bites. You could use over the counter hydrocortisone to reduce the itching; and I would suggest to avoid scratching because it actually increases the intensity of itching when you scratch.
