Make appt now: Painful welts are usually a sign of infection although can be cause by other types of inflammation. Whether this is an infection, particularly with a history of mrsa, or inflammation, the earlier it is treated the better.

Abscess: You need to make an appointment asap. The abscess needs to be incised and drained. The contents of the abscess should be sent for culture and sensitivity and you may be placed on an antibiotic.
