A member asked:

Is is less common to get strep throat if you no longer have your tonsils?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They remove the palatine tonsils in that procedure but you retain some lymphoid tissue in your throat from the mouth to your outlet. If you are exposed and acquire strep you can be infected at ant time. The procedure usually reduces the intensity of the illness but does not stop the susceptibility.
