Is it possible to get your period the first or second week of the month, and have to deal with the symptoms before the new month has even started?

Yes, this can happen. When you are young, your menses may even be irregular so you can have more than one period in a month or skip a month completely. So, if there is any concern, you should see your doctor and have an evaluation. Good luck!
