It can take up to six months for the symptoms of an IUD (intrauterine device) to completely subside after its removal. This is because the hormones in some IUDs can remain in the body for several months after removal, which may continue to affect the menstrual cycle and cause other side effects. Every person's body is different, and some individuals may experience a quicker or longer recover time.

If you are referencing something removed from your arm, this is not an IUD but a contraceptive implant. The hormones will actually clear fairly quickly but the disruption to your cycles will not immediately resolve, possibly for several months. If normal periods have not resumed in 6 months then go in for an evaluation.
