Passing blood rectally is abnormal& must be investigated by a physician. If it's a tiny amount of bright red blood, it often is from hemorrhoids. If there are associated bowel symptoms,inflammatory problems within the rectum,anus or colon could be the cause. At your age group, tumors, polyps or diverticulosis are less likely causes. You may only need an office exam by your MD or gastroenterologist
