There are a few reports that simultaneous infection with both viruses might delay positive HIV test results. However, this it is rare, and only occurs in men who have sex with men. Why? Because HepC virus is sexually transmitted only in MSM with traumatic anal sex. If you only have sex with women, you are not at risk for HCV, don't need testing for it, and can trust your HIV test results.
