I bought a water melon from a supermarket last night. i have stored it outside of the refrigerator. is it safe to do so? how long could i store it "unrefrigerated"?

It all depends on how cool it is where you are storing it. If it is kept in a cool, dry place, it is likely ok for a day or so, if it is intact and not cut open. Once the watermelon is cut open and exposed, it needs refrigeration. Good luck to you!
