It is common for a kid new to day care to acquire various viral illnesses that pass around the center. They can arise every month or so until the kid develops a basic immunity to the common strains. Then they see a reduced frequency of illness in general. Monitor this as you would any illness and follow the centers guidelines about returning during febrile illness.

Monitor temperature and breathing, keep him well hydrated. It is common to acquire viral info at daycare. This includes RSV, influenza and COVID-19. If the illness is mild, not as likely to be caused by Influenza. Consider COVID-19 screening. Discuss with the school any recent outbreaks. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and prolonged fever. Please follow up with your Pediatrician.
