A member asked:

Can a woman not take any medication when going through pre or menopausal and would it be less chance of breast cancer ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You can go through the pre and menopausal time of your life without taking hormone medication. It is what women did before hormone treatment became available and popular. If you do take hormones however, there is a greater risk of breast cancer than if you do not take hormones. This risk is equal to about one extra person with breast cancer in 1,000 women.
