How long do breakthrough bleeding last when starting new birth control?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Breakthrough bleeding" on oral bcp's is most common when the "active pills" are not taken punctually (within the hour of the prior day's active pill). Suggest stopping the current pack, waiting five days, and starting a new pack, with attention to punctual usage. If this continues, see your GYN physician for guidance.
