A member asked:

How do i know if my sinus infection is bacterial or viral and i need antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The label is rarely applied to viral infections, but you do not explain how the diagnosis was made. If you assume it is an infection, it may not meet a doctors' parameters for using the label which would be the case with some viral URIs that trigger simple mucus buildup. If I call it a sinus infection based on my exam I treat it with antibiotics.
