A member asked:

Can the contraceptive pull decrease cramps and flow?

The pill was originally studied decades ago as an aid in treatment in menstrual disorders. Irregular patterns, painful menses and flow excess are many of the issues they can help with. Birth control was a side effect that led to their most common use today.

There are variations on the contraceptive pill that can limit your period to once a year or so and could ameliorate the cramps other discomfort as well as reduce blood loss. For info: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5458926
