Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. A pregnancy test tests for the presence of hCG. If you had unprotected intercourse with your partner, and she's missed her period, and you have a positive pregnancy test, she's pregnant. ref: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/22489-human-chorionic-gonadotropin

Some tumors produce HCG and give a positive pregnancy test, in either a male or a female. However, rare diagnoses are rarely correct and if a prgnancy test result on a properly done test is positive, it is pregnancy unless proven otherwise.
