A member asked:

If i've seemingly developed oral leukoplakia that feels connected to my throat, and have had chronically swollen tonsils for over a year, is this likely connected to the hpv infection i've had for over 2 years that won't go away?

As for your other question, see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Probably you have something other than hairy leukoplakia, and your tonsils may not be abnormal.

There is little evidence of a casual relationship between oral leukoplakia and the HPV virus. There is a relationship with HPV and heavy alcoholic consumption causing oral leukoplakia. Yes there is a connection, but no treatment. The virus can linger in your body for years and then go away, even without you knowing it.
