A member asked:

3 month old twin girl born at 35w2d, asymmetric sga, 4 lbs at birth. head us normal. has intermittent bilateral ankle clonus 10+ beats, occasional tremors in legs at rest and bearing weight. can she grow out of this? neuro exam wnl otherwise?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

These are normal and expected features of infants at that age whose nervous system is immature. When they approach walking age the system has matured enough to stop the ankle clonus. The random tremor and irregular spontaneous movement are all part of this process.
