Typically, pink blood is due to a small amount of blood from a broken capillary or two, mixed with mucus. Causes of broken capillaries may include virus (such as a cold), dry winter air, mild trauma such as nose picking. If it’s only occasional pink blood, it’s not likely a problem, but if it’s persistent, you might want to have it checked by a doctor
