Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD. A missed period can be caused by so many different factors. HPTs are accurate 7 to 10 days after a missed period. Unprotected intercourse? Take a HPT and if still negative consult with your OBGYN.

Many normally regular women can skip a cycle or two occasionally. If the symptoms were pregnancy related a simple urine pregnancy test would be positive. I would look to a different cause for the symptoms which may require an exam & tests to sort out.
