There are several different HSV IgG antibody tests, all with different ranges of positive and negative results. Different labs use different tests, but each test performs identically in all labs using that test. With all these tests, positive results often are false, especially if the numerical result is at the low end of the positive range (i.e. only slight above equivocal).
