Cold sores: The cold sores are caused by one of the herpes viruses, either type i or type ii. The second was considered just genital but you can be infected in any location by either. The treatment is similar for both and the virus will often come back again sometime in the future. You should continue the treatment as long as your doctor recommended and monitor any symptoms for recurrence.
