The conventional medical advice is to eat at least 3 hours before going to sleep to allow food in the stomach to enter the small intestine. This obviates the release of insulin too early during sleep which would induce a state of wakefulness. Also reflux of food into your esophagus will be avoided. All this being said, I'm sure we all know people who have a bedtime snack and sleep well.
