Can wheezing cause prolonged dry cough in toddlers?

Wheezing is a symptom that usually represents irritation of the smaller airways of the lung, often during or after a viral lower respiratory infection. For some it will persist for weeks after an active infection fades. In some it can represent an emerging form of asthma.
