There is no need for MRI unless there is a history of a structural problem that is being followed. Or perhaps a new problem arises that requires further investigation with an MRI. The pediatrician can further guide you if you have concerns.

Research is routinely showing new evidence of submicroscopic changes/mistakes in the gene code of kids in the autistic spectrum. These are in the DNA found inside the cells. MRI's have no value in investigating these kids unless their full and extended neurologic exam suggest a separate neurological defect.
