A member asked:

Hello, recently, there has been study saying that infectious cjd prions could be found on the skin. could this mean that non invasive medical equipment with skin contact like an eeg could transmit cjd. i've done one recently and i'm wondering?

Prions are hard to kill. But don’t know if just one can be enough. Would go to Wikipedia and see what you find. Would think they cannot as thru skin with out a break in skin. Would check with your local prion expert who will know more about those that may be going around whee u live.

There are loads of studies uncovering all sorts of bogus threats, and not unusual for false data to show up on internet. Appreciate your being proactive, and asking here. There is absolutely no evidence that an EEG would transmit CJD, Mad Cow Disease, or any viral, bacterial, fungal, or prion infections. There is NO reason to worry about these purported risks.
