I was watching tv and felt a bit off so i checked my heart rate and it was 110-120bpm. tried to close my eyes and not stress about it. then randomly it jumped to 165bpm and it was pounding . settled to 130-150bpm afterwards. is this normal?

If your rates are accurate this is not simple sinus tachycardia but more serious tachycardia that warrants examination in the hospital emergency room( ASAP ) where prompt testing and care are available.
