Need ear checked: Swim ear is an alcohol-based ear drop, hence the reason it burned. If your ear is clogged, it is difficult to determine the exact cause without looking at the ear. It could be the that you had wax in your ear that liquified and is now coating your ear drum or if you somehow developed fluid in the middle ear. Best to get it checked before you fly.
