A member asked:

I am on the 24/4 contraceptive pill. i was wondering if i could lengthen my placebo days to 6 instead of 4 since next month i am changing to the 21/7 mode anyways. would that raise the chances of me ovulating?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A change from a "24/4" oral bcp cycle to a "21/7" oral bcp cycle will not increase the chance of ovulation. It is necessary, however, with a "21/7" cycle to start the next active oral bcp pill on day 8 after the 7 day placebo time ends, to avoid spontaneous ovulation.
