Many think prediabetes is itself a cause of peripheral neuropathy although I would think that prolonged elevation of blood sugar would be the cause because I've never seen a case of peripheral neuropathy in a prediabetic. I would check for vit B12 deficiency, certain medications, alcohol excess,toxicity as well. Symptoms are usually symmetrical,feet more than hands.But I've seen one foot involve
