A 30-year-old member asked:

Is it normal to have clear fluid leaking from my vagina in the third trimester?

Dr. David Fein

No: All pregnant women will produce a vaginal "discharge" due to the normal, healthy production of cervical and vaginal mucus. Leaking clear fluid is always a warning sign and should be evaluated immediately.

I am suffering from low amniotic fluid (38 weeks). Will I be allowed to go over my due late?

Unlikely: An induction is usually done for low amniotic fluid between 38-40 weeks. It is a sign that the placenta is starting to not function as well. If your fluid is borderline you will have weekly fluid checks and nonstress tests to look at the baby's heartbeat. An induction is usually done by the due date. If the placenta is starting to not work we would rather have the baby out than in!

I'm 40 weeks and keep getting vaginal discharge. Is it a show?

Very common: Vaginal discharge is very common in late pregnancy. If it is itching or burning it is likely something that can be treated, but if not it is likely physiologic (normal). If the discharge contains blood you should have it checked out by your physician or hospital labor and delivery.

How can you get bladder cancer if you're constantly urinating?

1 doctor answer4 doctors weighed in
Dr. Simon Kimm
Urology 16 years experience
In other ways.: The development of bladder cancer has little to do with the frequency of urination. It has everything to do with changes to the lining of the bladder, mostly due to exposure to toxins in the urine, such as from cigarette smoke & industrial chemicals. Inherited genetic factors play a role as well. For those that have developed bladder cancer, one of the symptoms can be frequent urination.

What are voiding diaries of urinary retention in men?

Dr. Simon Kimm

Tools for assessment: A voiding diary, or bladder diary, is a way to relate fluid intake with voiding behavior. It is usually performed over 24 or 48 hours, and the time and amount fluids are taken, the time and amount of voids, and any episodes of leakage or symptoms are noted. Doctors use this data to find patterns and help to diagnose problems in urine storage and voiding.
