A member asked:

How and when diabetes could be the cause of arrhythmia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The heart muscle requires glucose as its energy source. Let the blood sugar drop low enough from too much insulin (like single digits) and an arrhythmia will likely result. Whether or not long term blood vessel damage from poorly controlled diabetes will do the same is also a concern.
