The person could be having withdrawal symptoms. It would be prudent to see a doctor and get evaluated to rule out nutritional deficiencies usually associated with alcohol abuse. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs.

If someone drinks very heavily for a period of 2 months, then reduces the amount abruptly it can certainly cause irritability. This irritability is a symptom of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and this individuals heavy drinking may have developed an Alcohol Use Disorder. He should be seen by his PCP for through blood work and evaluated for his drinking history. There may be more to the story
