You can ask for anything but why? The elevated platelet count is a non specific inflammatory marker ant these are generally elevated during or after illness. If you don't trust the doc knows what s/he is doing find another doc. Don't go online to 2nd guess someone who cares for patients as a full time job.

More details would be helpful. What was his birthweight and gestational age? A supplemental boost drink for children may be helpful if his BMI is low. He may have had COVID-19 and his platelets continue to be elevated. A cardiac evaluation is also recommended. A virtual consultation with HT is available. Watch for signs of shortness of breath, poor weight gain and signs of infection.
