A member asked:

I have tested positive for high risk hpv and have some changes on pap. should me and my long term partner start using condoms again? can you keep passing the hpv back to eachother if we are only sleeping together? can't find advice online. thanks?

You do not pass this back & forth like a strep throat. You acquire the germ strain, spread it to partners for the first 1-2 yrs, then go dormant. You don't catch the same strain again nor would a partner who was infected with the strain. You would both become immune to the strain & go dormant. It rarely reactivated but can trigger pre-cancer/cancer years or decades later.
