Following a severe traumatic brain injury, once healing starts, the process will slowly improve over 12-18 months, with maximal recovery by 24 months. The degree of recovery is uncertain, but rehab tools such as speech therapy, OT and PT can play a very affirmative role. An EEG may help assess the current brain status. Discuss all of this with his doctors.
