If your BP is normal and you still experience a pronounced throbbing in the back of your head, i recommend consulting a neurologist to determine whether this is an atypical occipital neuralgia, temporal arteritis,or a sign of increased intracranial pressure or aneurysm.Appropriate testing will be performed.

If occurs in spells with rapid pounding heart and BP is high at the time ask Dr to consider pheochromocytoma but VERY rare. Check BP at home before and during a throbbing. Ask family about migraine. Pay $20 & read uptodate.com about headaches and then keep good notes about yours & share with Dr. Foods? Chocolate? Taking certain psych meds and eating cheddar cheese? Eating Chinese? Cold meds?
