If you are on the birth control pill your periods are regulated by the pill, should be relatively predictable, and may be light. It is also possible and normal to occasionally have bleeding at unpredictable times. This is in addition to a possible urinary tract infection which might be managed and treated through a HealthTap virtual consult.

If you are "on birth control" pills, the short bleeding episode may just be breakthrough bleeding (not a period). Missing today's low dose bcp's for even a few hours in some individuals will cause breakthrough bleeding. Best is to take the active pill in the same hour as the previous day's active pill to prevent withdrawal bleeding.
