Would follow up with urgent care or ER today. You need a blood count as you can really become very anemic from menstrual bleeding and get dizzy weak and short of breath. . They can possibly advise medication or BCP that may control the bleeding and could should what is the source, polyps, fibroids, poly cystic ovarian syndrome or other.

"Heavy bleeding with painful cramps", followed by delayed onset of menses may be due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (disease) (PCOS OR PCOD). The heavy bleeding may produce blood clots which cause severe pain with uterine contractions while being expressed from the cervical canal. See your gyn physician for an exam and treatment.
