Wearing a condom reduces transmission.Taking valtrex reduces shedding of the virus&reduces transmission of the virus when one partner has the virus.The first outbreak of genital herpes is treated with full doses of the valtrex but subsequent outbreaks are treated with lesser doses The virus can be transmitted when there's no eruption
