A member asked:

What would cause pain in the area of an inguinal hernia? my operation was 1.5 years ago, and today, i'm having sharp-ish pain (level 2-3) that comes in short bursts and waves in the area. this all came on suddenly, is uncomfortable & totally new?

Sharp pain that is new, in the area of your hernia surgery, could be a muscle strain but could be a tear of some fibers or even a recurrence of the hernia. If it persists definitely contact your surgeon’s office: they will likely want you to be examined.
