A member asked:

I did a medical abortion 3 weeks ago and i've been bleeding ever since..... sometimes it's severe and heavy bleeding, is that normal?

"Medical abortions" are not always successful, and tissues from the process may not be completely expelled, causing continued bleeding. Additionally, the pregnancy may have been outside the uterus (ectopic), so see your gyn physician for an exam and further testing (ultrasound and serum HCG testing).

It is common to have bleeding after a medical abortion however with the length of time you describe and the heaviness you should be checked and examined for potential problems
