A member asked:

I had laparoscopic gallbladder surgery- chances of abdominal adhesions and symtoms? when do they typically cause problems? how extensive are the adhesions?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

When intraabdominal adhesive bands cause serious symptoms, they cause very painfu!l abdominal cramping, abdominal distension, vomiting and inability to pass gas rectally or have a BM. This would be complete intestinal obstruction by the adhesions. Milder symptoms can occur with incomplete intestinal obstruction. The symptoms seem to occur without rhyme or reason. I hope this answers your question.
